Like most everything else, Radio Free Athens has been impacted by the current situation pertaining to COVID-19, which the World Health Organization has deemed a pandemic. Although you won’t get to hear your favorite DJs on the air for a while, we will be supplying faithful listeners with playlists in the meantime. Find them below!

This week’s list seemed to be a slog at first. I have not felt very motivated because someone keeps turning off spring.  Somehow it has come together and has taken a turn that was different from what I originally thought about. Sometimes that same scenario makes for the best live radio shows and it seems to have worked for this weeks list as well.  You stay sexy A-Camp.

Taj Mahal- Take a Giant Step
John Doe- Giant Step Backward
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers- Heal Me
Jerry Douglas- Eastbound and Down
Elvis Presley- Suspicious Minds
The Vogues- Five O’Clock World
Frank Zappa- Cosmic Debris
Wings- Live and Let Die
Cows with Guns
The Call- The Walls Came Down

Maybe I wasn’t clever enough to come up with a Mother’s Day playlist, but my mother would be proud of all of my selections, even if she personally didn’t like all of them. Come to think of it, I should send her a copy of Judee Sill’s debut record…
Was my husband’s resemblance to Great American Activist D. Boone one of the reasons we started dating? You be the judge! No matter what, “Paranoid Time” by the Minutemen is the song I have listened to exactly one million times this week — that and “Athens County” by Jonathan Edwards, “Way Back in the 1960s” by the ISB (back then, you could get a REAL FOOD MEAL!), “Candy Lunch” by Lilly Hiatt (her dad is one of my favorite songwriters, and this one is a pretty accurate description of my life pre-coronavirus — seems pretty quaint now, doesn’t it?) and “Archetypal Man” by Judee Sill. The Beck songs I include on this list are my favorite Beck songs of all time, and by all accounts, his best. I also decided this week that my favorite Beatle, by far, is Yoko Ono.
“Paranoid Time” – Minutemen
“MTV Makes Me…” – Beck
“Sisters, O Sister” – Yoko Ono and some guy named John Lennon?
“Archetypal Man” – Judee Sill
“Way Back in the 1960s” – Incredible String Band
“Athens County” – Jonathan Edwards
“Nobody Told Me” – John Lennon
“Candy Lunch” – Lilly Hiatt
“Steve Threw Up” – Beck
