Incumbent Democrats keep At Large seats on the Athens City Council

ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Unofficial election results in the race for three At-large seats on the Athens City Council are in.

Three of the five people running were Democrats- all won a seat. Micah McCarey (D) received 1,624 votes, Sarah Grace (D) received 1,620 votes, and Ben Ziff (D) received 1,596 votes. Damon Krane and Iris Virjee are both Independents who did not win a seat. 

Grace keeps her seat as she has been on the council since 2018. Ziff and McCarey were both appointed to council earlier this year but this is their first election.

Voter turnout in Athens County sat at 26.86% with 10,466 ballots cast.
