The Pilots came onto the field ready to play with Brody Lollathin running it for the touchdown at the beginning of the first quarter. That would be the only touchdown scored by both teams in the 1st quarter. Towards the beginning of the 2nd quarter, the pilots scored again thanks to Kebel Isaly making it 14-0 River. Around this time of the game, it started to get chippy.
Both teams were playing aggressive, and you could tell they both really wanted this win. But the Pilots would run all over the Caldwell defense the rest of the half and would go on to lead at halftime 28-0.
As much as the Pilots were dominating the whole game, Caldwell came back onto the field and was not going to give up just yet. Braxton Dudley for the Redskins scored a touchdown making it 28-6 with a missed extra point attempt. That would be the only touchdown scored in the 3rd quarter. Both teams played super aggressive throughout the 3rd quarter throwing some huge hits on both sides of the ball.
Around this time the crowd was really getting into it too with noise from both bleachers. For the rest of this game the Pilots would go on to dominate and they would win 42-6.
The Pilots played their hearts out this game and they deserve to move on in this year’s playoffs. They now look to Newark Catholic in hopes of giving them a tough game. Most likely Newark Catholic will be predicted to win this one but after this game, the Pilots will for sure give them a run for their money.
And as for Caldwell, this is a team that should be looked out for next season. Their sportsmanship after losing and their spirit throughout the whole game was truly commendable. This is a quality that builds great teams and they truly showed that tonight.
