ATHENS, OH – WOUB Public Media is partnering with the Coshocton Public Library for an early access screening of the season 3 premiere of All Creatures Great and Small on Masterpiece. The event will occur at the Coshocton Public Library on December 12 at 1 p.m.
Coined as “comforting and quaint,” All Creatures Great and Small depicts the writings of beloved British veterinary surgeon and author, James Herriot. Neal Caldwell, a retired veterinarian from Coshocton, will also speak at the event about his experiences as a large animal vet abroad.
“Neal has wonderful stories about being a large animal veterinarian that are very similar to the experiences of James Herriot in the show,” said WOUB Community Engagement Manager Cheri Russo. “It will be wonderful to hear him share those stories with those in attendance.”
All Creatures Great and Small has been lauded by critics and audiences alike, with more than 10 million viewers tuning in across its first season. The second season garnered a similarly enthusiastic reception, with Variety praising the “stunning Yorkshire setting, warm storytelling and animal hijinks,” and Vulture hailing the series as “extremely heartwarming.”
Season 3 begins in spring 1939 as James and Helen prepare to walk down the aisle. With a new stake in the business, James is trying to expand the veterinary practice by joining a government program to test for tuberculosis in cattle. The initiative pays well, but it is looked upon with suspicion by the local farmers who run the risk of their farms being shut down if a positive case is found.
Registration for the event is required and can be found here: https://bit.ly/WOUBAllCreaturesPremiere
Season 3 is set to premiere on WOUB HD January 8.
