After a shocking loss to the Wellston Golden Rockets last Friday, the Vikings rebounded nicely with a win against McClain on Saturday. They will have back-to-back testing games this week, with their first coming against the Federal Hocking Lancers on Tuesday and then a rematch against Alexander on Friday.
T2. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 8-5 (4-2)
After losing to Alexander last week, the Buckeyes are now in a tie with the Spartans for second in the TVC-Ohio. However, depending on how Alexander’s matchup goes with Vinton County on Friday, they will have a chance to break that tie with a win against River Valley on Friday.
T2. Alexander Spartans | 10-4 (4-2)
The Spartans are coming alive in time for the stretch run, winning their last two games, both against TVC-Ohio opponents. After handily beating Nelsonville-York in their last game, they are preparing for a rematch against Vinton County on Friday.
T4. Athens Bulldogs | 4-10 (3-3)
Athens went one-and-two last week; however, their lone win was against Meigs. This win allows them to hold a share of fourth place with the surging Wellston Golden Rockets. The Bulldogs will not have an in-conference game this week, instead playing Marrietta on Tuesday.
T4. Wellston Golden Rockets | 6-6 (3-3)
The Golden Rockets are soaring. After a three-and-six start to the season, they have won three straight. Each of those wins came against TVC-Ohio opponents. Their last game was impressive, upsetting the conference-leading Vinton County Vikings.
Wellston will look to keep that momentum going against Eastern and Meigs this week.
6. Meigs Marauders | 3-9 (2-4)
After dropping three straight to TVC-Ohio opponents, the Marauders have their work cut out in the title race. They will have games against Wellston this week with an opportunity to tie them for fourth in the conference.
7. River Ralley Raiders | 1-12 (0-6)
The Raiders are on an eleven-game losing streak after their blowout loss to Vinton County last week. They will have two chances to break the streak this week, with games against South Gallia and Nelsonville-York.
TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings
1. Athens Bulldogs | 10-5 (7-0)
The Bulldogs split their games last week; however, they were able to beat River Valley and retain their undefeated record in conference play. They will play River Valley again on Thursday and Marietta on Saturday.
2. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 11-3 (6-1)
After comfortably beating Alexander and Belpre, the Buckeyes’ winning streak is up to seven games. This week they have games against Amanda-Clearcreek, Vinton County and Trimble.
3. Meigs Marauders | 7-6 (5-2)
Meigs also split their games last week, but their win against Vinton County keeps them in the third spot in the TVC-Ohio. With two out-of-conference matchups this week, Meigs will look to tune up before the stretch run.
4. River Valley Raiders | 9-5 (5-3)
After losing to Athens to start last week, the Raiders took down Wellston in a tight game. They only have one game this week, with an out-of-conference matchup against South Gallia.
5. Vinton County Vikings | 4-12 (2-6)
The Vikings snapped their six-game losing streak with a win against Trimble on Saturday. Their remaining games will all be against TVC-Ohio opponents, with this week’s matchup being against Nelsonville-York.
6. Wellston Golden Rockets | 6-10 (1-7)
Since beating Clay, the Golden Rockets have dropped three straight. They will look to bounce back this week with games against Eastern and Meigs.
7. Alexander Spartans | 0-17 (0-8)
With their losses to Nelsonville-York and Jackson last week, the Alexander girls remain winless. They will look for their first win against Coal Grove on Saturday.
