Vikings and Spartans Boys Tie for the Top, Athens Girls Hold the Top of TVC-Ohio Standings

Alexander SpartansT1. Alexander Spartans | 11-5 (5-2)

Oh, how the tables have turned. After beating Vinton County at home, the Alexander Spartans have worked their way up the standings into a tie for first place. With five in-conference games remaining, including two this week, the Spartans have a chance to continue their run. 

They will be taking on Wellston on Tuesday and Athens on Friday.

Vinton County Vikings logoT1. Vinton County Vikings | 10-4 (5-2)

After dropping a close game at Alexander, the Vinton County Vikings are now in a 3-way tie for first place in the TVC-Ohio. With their last five games coming against conference opponents, including Nelsonville-York, the Vikings still have the opportunity to make a run.

This week, Vinton County will have its last out-of-of conference game against New Hope on Tuesday. Then, on Friday, they will be taking on Nelsonville-York at home. 

Nelsonville-York Buckeyes logoT1. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 11-6 (5-2)

After taking care of business in River Valley, the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes pushed themselves into a three-way tie for first place. This week will be a big test for the Buckeyes with games against Meigs and Vinton County. 

Athens BulldogsT4. Athens Bulldogs | 4-11 (3-3)

Last week, the Athens Bulldogs lost their only game against Marietta. However, this week they will begin a string of six-straight in-conference matchups. Those games will start with a home game against River Valley on Tuesday and an away game against Alexander on Friday. 

Wellston Golden Rockets logoT4. Wellston Golden Rockets | 7-7 (3-4) 

The Wellston Golden Rockets shocked the TVC-Ohio last week with an upset against Vinton County. After that, they dropped their only conference matchup of the week against Meigs. 

The Golden Rockets have games this week against Alexander and Huntington.

Meigs Marauders logo6. Meigs Marauders | 4-9 (2-4)

The Meigs Marauders broke their three-game skid with a win against Wellston last Friday. This week they will play Nelsonville-York and River Valley.

River Valley Raiders logo7. River Valley Raiders | 1-14 (0-7)

The Raiders have been winless since late November, dropping now 13-straight games. This week they will play Athens and Meigs.

 

TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings

Athens BulldogsT1. Athens Bulldogs | 11-7 (8-1)

The Athens Lady Bulldogs lost an in-conference matchup against Meigs on Monday, their first in-conference loss of the season. This loss gave way to the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes to jump in the standings for a tie for first. 

On Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Nelsonville-York to take on the Lady Buckeyes in a potential title game. 

Nelsonville-York Buckeyes logoT1. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 14-4 (8-1)

Last week, the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes took care of business on the road against Vinton County to stay one game back of the Bulldogs for first place in the conference. Then they took on the Trimble Lady Tomcats in a rivalry game and took down the Tomcats. Finally, Airah Lavy scored her 1000th point against Wellston to take home a victory.

With this victory, they are now tied with Athens for first in the TVC-Ohio. This makes the Thursday matchup between these two teams even more critical in the race for the title.

Meigs Marauders logo3. Meigs Marauders | 9-6 (6-2)

After pulling off one of the biggest upsets in the TVC-Ohio against Athens, the Meigs Marauders allowed themselves to make some noise in the title race. 

This week the Marauders will be taking on River Valley on Thursday.

River Valley Raiders logo4. River Valley Raiders | 9-6 (5-3)

The River Valley Raiders will be taking on Meigs and Southern this week.

Vinton County Vikings logo5. Vinton County Vikings | 4-14 (2-8)

Vinton County nearly pulled off the upset against Nelsonville-York last Thursday. However, they gave Alexander their first win of the season on Monday. 

Wellston Golden Rockets logo6. Wellston Golden Rockets | 6-13 (1-9)

The Golden Rockets have dropped two straight in the TVC-Ohio and six straight. They will be taking on Alexander on Thursday.

Alexander Spartans7. Alexander Spartans | 1-18 (1-8)

On Monday, the Alexander Lady Spartans got their first win at home against the Vinton County Vikings. With momentum on their side, they will head to Wellston on Thursday to take on the Golden Rockets.
