Generals take down Muskies in a back-and-forth game.
< < Back toThornville, Ohio (WOUB) — This was a big night for the Muskingum Valley League. Two undefeated teams, the Sheridan Generals and John Glenn Muskies, went head-to-head to see who would reign supreme.
The Sheridan Generals had one thing on their mind tonight and that was winning.
To start off the game the Generals came out strong and ran an offensive game giving the Muskies a run for their money. Within the first five minutes of the game, tight end Ryan Kuhn was able to complete a 24-yard pass and run the ball into the end zone.
It did not take long for the Muskies to return the heat. John Glenn recovered a fumble by Sheridan and had the ball on Sheridan’s three-yard line. However, the Muskies could not find their way through the Generals’ brick wall. The Muskies turned the ball over on downs after five yards.
In a back-and-forth second quarter, the Generals decided they had enough. Within the last two minutes of the quarter wide receiver AJ Winders completed a 36-yard pass and punched the ball into the end zone. This put Sheridan up 14-0 and they led going into half-time.
For the second half of the game, it was very back and forth. John Glenn tried their best to get the ball near the end zone, but the Generals were not having it. With an outstanding defense the Generals were able to keep the Muskies away from scoring.
The game concluded with a 14-0 score leaving the Sheridan Generals undefeated and John Glenn with their first loss of the season.
September 22, the Generals are back in action to keep up with their undefeated season against River View in an away game. The Muskies are also back in action on September 22 with a home game against Meadowbrook.
