< < Back to early-morning-blaze-damages-kentucky-fire-departmentAn early morning fire has caused extensive damage to the Blaine Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 6:30 a.m. Thursday and is said to have damaged three fire trucks and destroyed firefighting equipment, as well as causing heavy smoke damage.
Blaine Fire Chief Butch Smith tells WSAZ.com that he spotted the fire after going to the station to investigate a call about a water leak.
Crews from other parts of the county were called to help fight the fire, although there is no word now on how the fire started.
Smith does not know if the two engines and a tanker that were inside the station can be saved.
