The City of Athens and two Athens businessmen have reached a settlement in a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by the men in 2011, according to a joint press release issued Monday.

As part of the settlement agreement the City’s insurance company will pay $425,000 to Christopher Stotts and Demetrious Prokos.

According to the release, Stotts will withdraw applications seeking to make a Stimson Avenue property, owned by Prokos, an “adult entertainment business” and the lawsuit will be dismissed.

Stotts of the company Three Wide Entertainment had sought to open a strip club at the location.

“If my tenant is satisfied, then I am satisfied,” Prokos said.

“The City is pleased that there will not be an ‘adult entertainment business’ on Stimpson Avenue,” Pat Lang, Law Director for the City of Athens said.

The decision to settle the case was made by the City’s insurance company, according to the release.
