New Director Of My Sister’s Place
< < Back to new-director-my-sisters-placeIn a tough economy, the new director of My Sister's Place says the shelter is in a good spot financially, but there are still concerns.
"No one is immune to the budget cuts going on and we're really just trying to hunker down and keep doing what we're doing. But, we always have to be careful fiscally, of course, with our finances," says Kelly Cooke.
My Sister's Place provides services to victims of family violence in Athens, Hocking, and Vinton Counties.
Cooke is the new director, but she's no stranger to the shelter.
"I was a volunteer and a shelter aide when I was an undergrad at OU back in the mid-to late-90s, and left for a while, and then came back in a couple of different positions. I've had about half the positions available there, so yeah, and now I'm the director," says Cooke.
Cooke says one of her goals is to build more of a web presence for the shelter.
