Morgan Blows Out Athens
< < Back to morgan-blows-out-athensBehind an explosive offense and a stout defense, the Morgan Lady Raiders easily handled the Athens Lady Bulldogs with a convincing 75-32 win.
It was all Morgan from the start. Jumping out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
Athens only scored 12 points in the first half and were stone cold from the field. Shooting zero of five from the field and three of seven from the three-point-line, while committing seven turnovers.
The Raiders were led by sophomores Kaylie Apperson and Kayleigh Hopkins. Apperson scored 27 points while Hopkins finished with 12 points.
The leading scorer for the Bulldogs was Olive Harter, she finished with 12 of the Bulldogs 32 points.
Athens has a very inexperienced starting lineup. Four sophomores and one freshman lead the way for the Lady Bulldogs. Second year head coach Paul McNeal knows his team is facing a big challenge.
“We are really looking to get better every day, one of our mottos is to be better today than we were yesterday.” said McNeal. “Our main goal is to be competitive in every game, tonight we weren’t and our goal is to try to make some noise come tournament time. We’re just trying to improve daily as we go along.”
Athens gets a long week to regroup before traveling to Federal Hocking to take on the Lady Lancers on Saturday.
