Ghana’s Honorable Abla Dzifa Gomashie Speaks With WOUB

Honorable Abla Dzifa Gomashie’s career started out in television, in a studio not unlike WOUB’s.
Some 30 years later, she’s served as the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts in Ghana 2013-2017; she’s the queen mother directing the protocol of the Aflao Traditional portion of Ghana, as well as an experienced poet, entrepreneur, actress, writer, and producer. She holds advanced degrees from numerous institutions in the fields of African Studies (in which she holds a Master of Philosophy), fine arts and theatre. She’s an artist, a politician, a TV producer, an advocate and so much more.
She spoke with WOUB’s Emily Votaw just about a week and a half before March 31, when she is bringing her talent to Ohio University’s World Music and Dance Festival. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium, and admission is free with student ID and $12 for the general public.
