Week 4 proved challenging for SEOAL teams, except for Jackson and Portsmouth.  The Ironmen have continued to showcase their sound offense and defense as the rest of the conference struggle to hang on.  Portsmouth nabbed its first win in a shocking fashion, knocking off Waverly 29-27, earning the Trojans a bump up in the ranks.  Week five is all that stands between SEOAL squads and the madness that is conference play.

1.) Jackson Ironmen (4-0)

With a perfect record and an offense that is averaging over 35 points a game, the Jackson Ironmen are showing why they are the team to beat in the SEOAL. Jackson’s defense has also been stout through the first four games, pitching two shutouts and allowing no more than 14 points. The Ironmen are also the only team in the conference with a winning record.

T2.) Gallia Academy Blue Devils (2-2)

With junior Wes Jarrel's return, the Blue Devils have their deep threat back and the team’s running game is a force with which to be reckoned. Gallia Academy has its eyes on a winning record, but topping a talented Point Pleasant squad will be challenging to overcome.

T2.) Logan Chieftains (1-3)

Although Logan experienced 30-point loss last week to Loudonville, the team has showed promise on offense. Quarterback Lane Little has an array of receivers from which to choose and running back Bryce McBride is averaging over 8.5 yards per rush.

4.) Portsmouth Trojans (1-3)

Portsmouth picked up its first win against Waverly when Cole Lowery stepped in for Sky Oliver, for the second consecutive game, and threw for 172 yards. The Trojans clung to victory after stopping Waverly’s two-point conversions attempt with no time remaining on the clock.

5.) Warren Warriors (1-3)

Warren’s offense has averaged only 6.5 points in the past two weeks of play, but a winnable game against Chesapeake lies ahead.  Running back Jared Isner did show some signs of promise during the Parkersburg South matchup, but a full unit effort will be needed to revitalize the offense.
