Preview: Jackson looks to maintain unblemished record against Warren
< < Back to preview-jackson-looks-maintain-unblemished-record-against-warrenConference play is set to begin in the SEOAL and the Jackson Ironmen and Warren Warriors are no strangers to each other’s company.
In fact, Jackson has made it a running trend to come out on top, winning the previous 13 meetings between the two schools – dating back to 1999.
Jackson’s main focus to continue that streak will be centered on a defense that has pitched three consecutive shutouts. As a matter of fact, Jackson has only allowed a miniscule 20 points through five games.
As if Jackson’s staunch defense wasn’t enough, Warren will go up against on offense with legitimate firepower. Orchestrated by quarterback Hunter Sexton, Jackson’s rushing attacks runs several backs deep and the offense has scored no less than 23 points this season.
The Ironmen have looked nearly unbeatable in their most recent matchups after they easily handled two state-ranked top-three opponents in Bishop Ready and Wheelersburg.
Warren has seen its fair share of high-quality opponents this season as well, partially contributing to the team’s 1-4 start and current three-game losing streak.
That rigorous schedule has led to major struggles on the offensive side of the ball with the Warriors having posted double-digit point totals twice this season.
On paper, Warren is considered the underdog. However, with defending SEOAL champion Logan awaiting Jackson in week seven, the Warriors could have the opportunity to catch Jackson looking ahead to the Chieftains.
Friday’s game is scheduled to be a “Pink-Out,” so the usually red-filled stands of Alumni Stadium will show a lighter tint of Jackson’s colors. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
