Miller Caught In The Storm
< < Back to ?p=222886Tornado sirens blared through the speakers at Roger Lee Adams Memorial Field, but the Miller Falcons didn’t heed the warning and flew into the storm led by Logan Drummer and the Southern offense.
The Southern Tornadoes (4-0) brought the thunder against the Miller Falcons (1-3) defeating them in a TVC-Hocking conference game 58 to 13.
Body Dutton’s kickoff return to the 18-yard line should have been a signal for the Miller defense to he’d to the storm shelter. That first possession was finished up by a touchdown from Trey McNickle just 30 seconds into the first quarter.
McNickle would account for Southern’s first three touchdowns of the night.
The winds shifted in Miller’s direction during the second quarter with Rusty Greenich returning a punt all the way to the end zone securing the first touchdown of the night for the Falcons.
Also in the second quarter, Miller inched their way down the field one more time as Colby Bartley made small gains giving the ball to Blayton Cox and Devon Crabtree. Eventually a 17-yard pass to Cox would give the Falcons their final touchdown of the evening.
The Tornadoes quickly answered back when Dutton reached for Drummer’s pass and ran the ball 75-yards down the field for another Southern touchdown.
Though the Falcons tried to weather the storm, the Tornadoes’ dominated Miller’s defense for the rest of the evening.
Southern looks to keep their four game win streak alive next week at Belpre (2-2) and Miller will face off against Waterford (3-1).
