Ohio Volleyball: Bobcats’ Season Ends With Loss to Western Michigan in MAC Tournament
< < Back to ohio-volleyball-bobcats-season-ends-with-loss-to-western-michigan-in-mac-tournamentThe three-seeded Ohio Bobcats (12-8) fell to the No. 2 Western Michigan (18-4) in the first round of the MAC Women’s Volleyball tournament Friday afternoon.
Ohio was without senior star Tia Jimerson, as well as veteran junior Lauren Park in their battle against Western Michigan. The absence of the usual starters was apparent as the Bobcats dropped the first set, 25-19.
After a disappointing second set, which the Bobcats lost 25-16, the team circled up and strategized while head coach Deane Webb analyzed gameplay. Whatever was discussed during this break seemed to boost Ohio, and translated to a dominant 25-19 win in the third set.
However, the fourth set was all Western Michigan, and Ohio’s season was ended with a 3-1 loss to the Broncos, who will face Bowling Green in the MAC championship.
Sophomore Emily Margolies stepped up big in the veterans’ absence, finishing with 13 kills on the night, her season high.
Ohio will likely be back on the volleyball court in the fall for a new season.
