Green Seminar Series Begins Tonight In Logan

The Hocking College Logan Campus starts its Green Seminar Series tonight.
The college is holding monthly seminars on green technology and energy efficiency for both its students and the public.
The series starts tonight with President of AFV International Bill McGlinchey as he presents "Compressed Natural Gas Vehicles–The Pressure to Convert."
Jestinah McDonald from the Hocking College Energy Institute says this lecture covers up and coming changes in the automobile industry.
"With everything that's happening in natural gas today, we really feel that there's going to be an explosion of vehicle conversion and new vehicles coming out. Bill, tonight, is going to speak to that a little bit; just what's happening in the industry, what he sees coming our way, those kinds of topics are what we're going to talk about tonight," says McDonald.
McDonald says Hocking College Logan Campus offers programs for advanced energy training for students, but officials also wanted to provide educational opportunities for others in the community.
"We felt that these seminars and topics, like I said, are ones we saw being in the news or ones that people had inquired about in the past. We needed to provide them in a different kind of format, a time for question and answers and a little more of an intimate setting, but just really to spread some awareness about what's out there–what options people have to reduce energy costs or just to learn more about what's on the fringe of energy and transportation," says McDonald.
Tonight's seminar begins at 6:00 p.m. in room 126 of Hocking College Energy Institute and costs $10 per ticket.
"Compressed Natural Gas Vehicles–The Pressure to Convert" is only the kick off to this series.
In February, the seminar is on bee keeping followed by future seminars focusing on topics such as hybrid vehicles, geothermal heating, and natural gas safety.
