Lancaster Zoning Board To Decide Recovery House Issue
< < Back toThe Lancaster Board of Zoning Appeals will now decide whether the area at West Chestnut Street and Memorial Drive is properly zoned for the Pearl House and Recovery Center.
On Monday, Lancaster City Council decided to leave the zoning issue up to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Last November, Fairfield Homes, the Recovery Center and the Lancaster-Fairfield County Community Action Agency applied to the Ohio Housing Financing Agency for tax credits to build Pearl House.
Many in Lancaster are against the idea because they don't feel Pearl House should be located downtown.
Pearl House would house homeless people who have substance-abuse problems and their families while seeking treatment.
The OHFA is expected to make its decision on the tax credits in April.
