Preliminary Autopsy Results Back On Inmate That Died

Preliminary autopsy results are back on a Lawrence County Jail inmate who died earlier this month.
Steven Conley, 23, of Kitts Hill died at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton on December 15.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless says EMS was called to the jail after Conley complained of being sick.
The Lawrence County Coroner’s Office says the preliminary cause of death appears to be an infection to a heart valve. The report also indicates Conley had not ingested any caustic substances. Toxicology reports are still pending.
The Sheriff’s office has asked the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association to conduct an independent investigation of the death.
