Organizers are hard at work preparing for the third annual Ratha Con Convention, taking place Saturday, April 26 at the Athens Community Center.
Previously a comic and sci-fi/fantasy convention, the event has been re-classified as a pop culture convention, incorporating gaming, comics, costume contests and displays by local artists and collectors.
The music scene is alive and well in central Ohio, and Jim Morris, owner of Columbus' Mug & Brush Barber Shop, is doing his part to support and promote local artists. Barber shop by day, at night his North High Street location becomes the setting for The Mug & Brush Sessions, a video series featuring area musicians.
A Lucasville man is in jail on charges relating to the manufacture of methamphetamine. Lawrence County Grand Jury returned a "no bill" decision against Richard Blackshire, a Coal Grove, Ohio man, according to the Portsmouth Daily Times. Cabell County Prosecutor Chris Chiles has been appointed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin to replace David Pancake as 6th Judicial Circuit Court Judge in Cabell County.
