In his first year as head coach of the Morgan Raiders last season, Nate Smith took his team in the right direction. The Raiders rattled off a pair of wins in 2010, including a 26-8 victory over New Lexington on Homecoming. The 2011 Raiders will look to continue adding tallies to the win column. They will host Sheridan, Tri Valley and Crooksville in McConnelsville this season, setting the table for a possible upset. Returning for one last season in a Raiders uniform will be seniors Bryk Hardesty and Austin Burns, both of whom are coming off successful junior seasons. But the biggest challenge for Morgan will be finding a replacement for Ted Vynalek at the quarterback position. Vynalek was the heart and soul of the Raiders’ offense last season and will surely be missed. If Morgan can fill the hole at quarterback, look for them to compete with the rest of the conference this season.
