Ohio junior Matt Weller is the week eight special teams Player of the Week for the MAC East. The Bobcats cruised to a 37-20 win over Akron this past Saturday, with 13 of its points coming off of Weller's right foot.
The Twinsburg, Ohio native was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals on Saturday, knocking home kicks from 24, 27, and 23 yards. He was also a perfect four-for-four on extra point attempts as Ohio got its second win in conference play.
With three more made kicks from inside 40 yards, he is a perfect 11-for-11 on kicks from inside 40 in 2011.
This is the fourth time Weller has received the honor in 2011. Ohio has won the award five times in eight weeks. Travis Carrie took the honor in the season's opening week.
In addition to being Ohio's all-time leader in made field goals (47), Weller has now attempted more three-pointers than any other Ohio kicker (62) and is the highest scoring kicker in Ohio history (241 points). He also has made an even 100 extra points (out of 104 tries).
