Men Don Heels to ‘Walk A Mile In Her Shoes’

However, the thousands of men worldwide who participate in the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event seem up to the challenge.
The annual event celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and takes place in cities all over the world,
On Saturday, men in Athens took a stand against sexual violence against women by donning high heels or other womens-style footwear.
Participants did not let foot pain and a lack of balance get in the way of the event’s message.
The organization’s goal is to combat alarming statistics through preventative education, awareness and a united gender movement.
In 2001, Frank Baird formed the national body responsible for organizing "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes". The group has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support rape, crisis and domestic violence shelters, according to the organization's website.
"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" also works in conjunction with events such as "Take Back the Night", which is a women’s march that encourages a unified gender front against sexual violence.
