Trimble Needs Win to Keep Season Alive
< < Back to trimble-needs-win-keep-season-alive
The Trimble Tomcats are not sure if they will still be playing next week. The only thing they are certain of is that they need a win to have any chance of that happening. The Tomcats will likely make the playoffs in Division 6 region 23 if they do win. However, there is still a possibility they will not, even if they win against rival Federal Hocking week 10. Currently the Tomcats sit in the tenth spot in the region with a 6-3 record. Top eight in each region make the playoffs.
The Lancers are not going to be an easy victory for Trimble. Federal Hocking has accumulated four conference wins this season. Trimble Coach Phil Faires is pleased how of his team looks going into the game.
“We have had a good week of practice. I think our kids are focused and ready to go,” Said Faires.
The Tomcats have been riding high ever since their shaky performance against Waterford where they escaped with a 21-14 win. The Tomcats have been able to overcome injuries especially suffering a key loss in J.D. Chesser the team’s guard and defensive end.
“Defensively we have been moving a lot of kids in. Some kids have played that I didn’t think I would see the field this season. I think that’s going make us a lot better for next year,” Said Faires.
Coach Faires is confident his team will be ready to go if they clinch a playoff spot.
“This will be a big plus for us to make the playoffs. I think we can surprise some teams,” Said Faires.
On the flip side, Federal Hocking is also a team that has overcome injures and has chalked up a 2 game winning streak and is looking to have a 500 record this season.
Trimble has dominated the rivalry as of late winning the last four matchups. If Federal Hocking succeeds in playing spoiler it will be their first win against Trimble since 2006.
