Swimming/Diving: Ohio dominates Denison at home
< < Back to swimmingdiving-ohio-dominates-denison-homeThe Bobcats dominated Denison 186-102 at the home dual meet on Saturday. With a Bobcat finishing first place in every event, Coach Greg Werner said he liked what he saw today following a month break from competing.
“I felt very good about what I saw and the progress that we’re making,” Werner said.
After taking first place at the Zippy Invitational in December, the Bobcats have spent the last month training and preparing for the remainder of their season. Another victory today moves Ohio to 4-1 (3-0 MAC).
Rachel Sterns, Laurin Williams, and Amanda Cecere brought home two first place finishes each for Ohio. Sterns in the 100 Backstroke and 400 Individual Medley, Williams the 1650 and 500 Freestyle, and Cecere the 100 and 200 Butterfly.
Diver Haleigh Bartlett took first place in both 1 meter and 3 meter diving events.
The day concluded with the 400 Freestyle Medley relay team of Katey Brooks, Lauren Funk, Tori Bagan, and Abby Corcoran and a time of 3:3098. Good enough for a first place finish.
“We have to sharpen up quite a bit, there’s no doubt about that,” said Werner about the possibility of another MAC championship. Last year, the Bobcats won their 11th MAC Championship in 22 years.
The team’s next meet January 15 at Youngstown State, but they won’t see another MAC team until January 28 against Ball State.
