The Ohio Woodland Stewards Program will be presenting a workshop this month to help people learn more about the materials they use.

"What's That Wood?" will teach basic wood identification and tell participants about wood species native to the state.

Eric McConnell is a forest products specialist who will be teaching the workshop.

McConnell says the program will talk about wood's modern day uses as well as how it was used in the past.

"We'll go through basic characteristics to identify the woods and we'll talk about how you can use them around your home and farm. We'll also talk about historic uses such as how the Native Americans used it," says McConnell.

The workshop is on February 23 at Ohio State University's Endeavor Center.
