The Wood County Commission has given final approval to a $19.3 million fiscal year budget for next year.

The budget reflects both decreases and increases: a drop in revenue due to last year's St. Joseph's Hospital merger and an increase in expenses.

Commission President David Blair Couch says the jail bill and health care costs will increase, but the health care and liability insurance renew on July 1, making it possible they will be lowered.

Also approved was a pay increase for the county's park director, who this past year added administration of Mountwood Park to his duties.

The county's property tax rate will not increase.
