Bicyclist Killed In Wheelersburg Hit And Run Crash

UPDATE 12/6/12 @ 9:22 a.m. Officers now know the identity of the SUV driver believed to be responsible for a hit and run accident that killed a bicyclist in Wheelersburg.
According to troopers with the Portsmouth post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the driver of the Buick Rendezvous came forward Wednesday afternoon.
The Monday evening accident seriously injured Shawn Hamilton, 22, and he later died of his injuries.
No charges have been filed against the driver and the investigation is on-going.
The driver's name is not being released at this time.
Troopers say the case will be turned over to the Scioto County prosecutor's office.
UPDATE: 12/5/12 @ 10:26 a.m. State Highway Patrol officers are looking for a driver they believe hit and fatally injured a bicyclist in Wheelersburg.
Troopers said 22-year-old Shawn R. Hamilton was riding his bicycle southbound along State Route 522 around 6 p.m. Monday evening when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling southbound. He was airlifted from the scene to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators are searching for a 2002 to 2007 Buick Rendezvous of unknown color. The vehicle may have visible damage to the right headlight, right fender, and right mirror.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver they believe hit a bicyclist Monday night on State Route 522.
Troopers are investigating Monday night's serious injury crash near Wheelersburg.
According to a news release, at about 6 p.m., a bicyclist was riding southbound on State Route 522, just north of Mill road, and was struck by a vehicle that was also heading southbound.
The bicyclist was forced off the road and ejected from the bicycle.
The cyclist was airlifted from the scene to Cabell Huntington Hospital.
The name of the bicyclist is being withheld at this time.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the hit and run vehicle is possibly a pickup truck and has damage to its right headlight, right fender and right mirror.
