Pomeroy Police Officer Alleges Discrimination By Mayor
< < Back to pomeroy-police-officer-alleges-discrimination-mayorThe village council of Pomeroy is investigating discrimination allegations against the town's mayor.
Pomeroy police officer Kyle Calendine says he has been the target of derogatory remarks by Mary McAngus because of his sexual orientation.
Calendine says McAngus tried to get him fired when she found out he was gay.
He was hired in September.
Seven of Calendine's fellow officers, including the police chief, also filed complaints against the mayor regarding discrimination of Calendine because of his sexual orientation.
At a special council meeting Tuesday, the council ordered the mayor and police department to not have any direct contact with each other.
Multiple attempts to contact the mayor for comment were unsuccessful.
