Excessive fouling and inability to rebound led to Federal Hocking dropping its seventh game in a 73-53 loss against Trimble.

The Lancers totaled 20 team fouls and only managed to rebound the ball 13 times, compared to the Tomcats 23 rebounds. Two of Fed Hoc’s biggest forces-AJ Cobb and Ryan Harvey- found themselves on the bench after fouling out in the second half.

Rebounding, the Lancers snagged only 13 rebounds. Half of the rebounds came from Carter Russell, who also notched 14 points for the Lancers.

The Lancers’ leading scorer, Jason Gillian, left for the sideline in the middle of the second half with an apparent knee injury. Gillian added 15 points on the night for the Lancers prior to his injury.

For Trimble, Justice Jenkins led his team once again with 20 points. However, Jenkins acknowledge the Tomcats’ team effort throughout the night. 10 of the 13 players saw playing time.

“We have 13 guys that practice hard day after day,” assistant coach Chris Lyons said. “They deserve the time to play.”

Both Fed Hoc (3-7) and Trimble (8-1) travel for its next contests. The Lancers face Eastern on Friday, Jan. 8, while Trimble hopes to defeat Minford on Saturday, Jan. 9.
