FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – The Kentucky State Police are accepting donations for a food drive ahead of Thanksgiving.

The nearly month-long “Cram The Cruiser” holiday food drive ends on Dec. 12. It seeks to provide non-perishable food items for families in need throughout the state.

Suggested donations include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices.

Collection sites for donations have been set up at the 16 state police posts and six Commercial Vehicle Enforcement regional offices throughout the state as well as the agency’s headquarters in Frankfort.

Visit the KSP website at kentuckystatepolice.org for a listing of the locations.

Last year the agency collected 246,000 pounds of food.
