Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes Stay Hot Against Federal Hocking Lady Lancers
< < Back toThanks to the hot hand of Camrin Dupler the undefeated Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes picked up their third consecutive win over the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers in a 63-36 blowout Monday night.
Dupler’s lights out, 15-point, performance from behind the arc was the key to the Lady Buckeye’s win as they were unable to penetrate and score in the paint. The zone defense applied by the Lady Lancers forced Nelsonville-York to settle for three’s and long two’s.
The strategy worked, but the only problem was the Lady Buckeye’s were making those difficult shots. They team shot nearly 60 percent from the field. Compared to the Lady Lancers 37 team shooting percentage. The ability to knock down the tough shots was the edge Nelsonville-York needed to secure the win.
Although Federal Hocking senior Destiny Tabler was just one point shy of a double-double, the Lady Lancers had no answer for the full court press applied by Nelsonville-York. The Lady Buckeyes forced 10 turnovers in the first quarter alone which translated into a lopsided 21-3 score after the first eight minutes.
Federal Hocking seemed to calm down and get their offense going at the start of the second quarter. Although the full court press was unrelenting, the Lady Lancers were able to move the ball up the court without issue as they only committed seven turnovers throughout the remaining three quarters.
Despite the lopsided score, the Lady Lancers were dominant on the glass and repeatedly picked up second chance points after grabbing offensive rebounds. At the end of the night the Lady Lancers finished with eight more rebounds than Nelsonville-York.
The Lady Buckeyes will look to pick up their fourth consecutive win Thursday night when they take on the 2-1 Vinton County Lady Vikings at home. The Lady Lancers travel to Eastern Wednesday night in an attempt to hand the Lady Eagles their first loss of the season.
