1. Tri-Valley Scotties 3-1 (2-0) Next Opponent: Philo

A familiar spot for Coach Buttermore’s squad which has won three straight games since its season opening loss to Saint Vincent-Saint Mary. The Scotties will face arguably the most talented player in the league in Isaac Gill on Friday when it matches up with Philo in a battle of the top teams in the Muskingum Valley League.

2. Philo Electrics 3-1 (3-0) Next Opponent: @ Tri-Valley

Isaac Gill has exceeded expectations at quarterback for the Electrics leading Philo to three straight wins by a combined score of 137-44. Gill continues to show his playmaking abilities on both sides of the ball with three interceptions and four touchdowns last week against John Glenn. A showdown in Dresden this week will determine if Gill can push Philo up to that No. 1 spot.

3. John Glenn Little Muskies 3-1 (1-1) Next Opponent: Maysville

A difficult loss to Philo last week ended John Glenn’s perfect record to begin the season but the Little Muskies continue to have high hopes. If John Glenn can redeem themselves against a good Maysville team this week, then there is a good chance that come Oct. 13 the Little Muskies will be 6-1 preparing to face Tri-Valley in a game with large MVL implications.

4. Sheridan Generals 2-2 (1-1) Next Opponent: West Muskingum

The Generals responded to the difficult last-minute loss against John Glenn with an impressive 44-7 win against Logan. Sheridan will have the opportunity to be over .500 for the first time this year with a win against the Tornadoes. There may not be much time to celebrate as the Generals have back-to-back games against Philo and Tri-Valley in the coming weeks.

5. Maysville Panthers 3-1 (2-1) Next Opponent: @ John Glenn

Two wins in a row have put the Panthers in a favorable position in the MVL standings but still have games against the top three teams in rankings remaining. The outcome of this week’s game against John Glenn will help determine if the Maysville Panthers are legitimate contenders or not.

6. New Lexington Panthers 2-2 (2-1) Next Opponent: @ Coshocton

Following a loss to Maysville, the Panthers are given an opportunity to get back in the win column against winless Coshocton. New Lexington will then enter a stretch of games that include all four of the top teams in the MVL in five weeks.

7. Morgan Raiders 1-3 (1-2) Next Opponent: Crooksville

A 61-point outing over West Muskingum marked the highest point total for the Raiders in over 10 years. Morgan is given another chance to secure a win this week when it takes on Crooksville at home.

8. Crooksville Ceramics 1-3 (0-3) Next Opponent: @ Morgan

If the Ceramics have aspirations to a .500 team then it will need to capitalize on the next four games when it faces teams that combine for just three wins up to this point. All winnable games for Crooksville but will ultimately decide if this team goes 1-9 or 5-5.

9. West Muskingum Tornadoes 0-4 (0-3) Next Opponent: @ Sheridan

Last week was the best shot yet at winning a game this season for the Tornadoes who lost by 27 points. West Muskingum may only have two more games this year that offer a genuine shot at getting a win—Crooksville and Monroe Central.
