ATHENS — A mother and her boyfriend have been indicted in the death of a three-month-old baby.

An Athens County grand jury returned indictments on Jerry Wayne Andresen, 21, and Christina Leigh Hazlett, 23, both of Athens.

Both were charged with murder, aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, two counts of endangering children, two counts of permitting drug abuse and three counts of domestic violence.

“Jerry Andresen and Christina Hazlett are accused of causing the death of Hazlett’s three-month-old on March 12, 2018,” Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn stated in a news release.

The two are also accused of “not only allowing the trafficking of drugs in and out of their residence, in addition to using drugs themselves, but also causing physical harm, not only to each other, but to the infant in the days and weeks leading up the death of the infant,” according to the release.

Blackburn says the infant died of blunt force trauma.

Arraignments in the two cases are scheduled for April 4 in Athens County Common Pleas Court.
