Rockets Fail to Launch Against Alexander
< < Back to rockets-fail-to-launch-against-alexanderSUGAR GROVE, Ohio- The Alexander Spartans planned a successful invasion of Berne Union Rockets when the two teams took the field on Friday night. The Spartans commanded the field as they defeated Berne Union, 33-12.
Both teams came into the game following wins to lead off the season.
The battle at the line of scrimmage became a major factor as soon as the opening drive got underway. Alexander’s senior quarterback Kaleb Easley broke the scoreless tie late in the opening quarter with a short run to ignite both offenses. He would end the night with 90 rushing yards.
Kaleb Easley’s night would not end there. He would end the first half with two more touchdowns. Matthew Brown was found open for both scores as they ballooned their lead to 15 going into the second half.
Nick Heilman led the charge for the Rockets. His night took off as he broke tackles early in the ballgame and blasted into the end zone with a 60-yard run. Heilman would finish the game with two touchdowns to his name.
The Spartans defense would secure the win for Alexander. Berne Union was held to 162 yards on the ground and through the air. They held the Rockets to a 50 percent completion rate.
Berne Union will travel to Nelsonville-York on Friday, Sept. 13 to battle the Buckeyes.
The Spartans and their high-flying offense will look to keep their undefeated season alive as they face-off against South Point on Friday, Sept 13.
