Courtney Clark is the lone senior on a young Federal Hocking squad. When asked what she will miss the most, it was a simple answer.

“Definitely the family atmosphere.”

That family atmosphere has put so much dedication and hard work into a senior who would score two points, coming from the free throw line, in what would be an interesting out-of-conference game.

Even Coach Jeremy Tolson holds a special relationship with this senior that has fought her way through the basketball program to get to where she is now.

“It’s special to me because we have had her since sixth grade coming into seventh grade,” Tolson said. “I just feel like this program has been very valuable to her.”

On senior night, she would go out a winner on the Lady Lancers home court, as the squad would take down the Bishop Rosecrans Lady Bishops 58-41.

The Lady Lancers started off in a back and forth affair, but after a hot shooting stretch in the second quarter, they went into the half up 31-18. The Lady Bishops would cut the lead down in the third quarter.

Federal Hocking used a 14-10 fourth-quarter score to hold on in the end and give their senior one last win on her home court.

As has been the case all season, junior Paige Tolson led the way in scoring for the Lady Lancers with 27 points, and Coach Tolson knew how much that helped their teams success.

“Paige was able to get into the interior, she hurt them pretty bad on the inside,” Tolson said. “When we did get kicks we were knocking down the shots late.”

Other contributors for the team tonight were sophomore Alexis Smith with nine points, where all of her scoring came from kick-out threes from beyond the arc. Brooklyn Richards helped out with eight points, finding her way inside for easy dishes from Tolson. Though junior Emma Beha struggled from the field, her rebounding late in the fourth quarter helped them secure the victory on this special night.

With this win, the Lady Lancers remain in the middle of the pack for the TVC-Hocking title, though some feel that their play is much better than their record indicates sitting right around .500.

“We have a lot of fight in us in general,” Courtney Clark said after the game. “I know our record may not look like it but we work hard every single day.”

Federal Hocking plays the Eastern Lady Eagles this Saturday with a 7:30 P.M. tip-off time.
