ATHENS, OH – The changing news has many people in our region tuning into WOUB radio daily for the latest information. WOUB realizes that keeping up to date is vitally important, and with that in mind WOUB has decided to limit our upcoming radio pledge drive to just one day on Friday, June 5.

“News about the Coronavirus changes every hour,” said WOUB General Manager Mark Brewer. “Keeping the news coming means keeping on-air fundraising to a minimum, and that’s why we’re limiting the June pledge drive to just one day.”

WOUB will not interrupt news coverage with pledge messages and will keep pledge messages to a minimum throughout that day.

‘’We know many of our listeners are new to WOUB, as they started tuning in to get reliable news and information on the global pandemic. And we get that,” said Brewer. “So, our goal for this drive is to raise the funds WOUB needs to continue bringing them the quality news coverage they have come to count on – with as little disruption as possible. But we hope they understand that WOUB relies on them as much as they’re relying on us and will consider becoming a member during our one-day pledge drive.”

Thanks to several of WOUB’s loyal supporters who contributed matching funds, there will be several opportunities throughout the week leading up the one-day pledge drive and during the one-day drive for donors to make more of an impact. The matching dollars will be used to match contributions dollar for dollar from new sustaining members and current members who become sustaining monthly donors. The matching funds will help WOUB raise a lot of the June fundraising dollars without interrupting the news.

Donors can make their pledge by calling 877-845-9600 or visiting woub.org/support.

“WOUB is proud to be your resource for quality news and information from the Ohio governor and national leaders during this time,” said Brewer. “Because we value how important that is to you, we will conduct our one-day pledge drive with minimal interruption to that flow of information.”
