The Lady Marauders uproots Eastern to win Southeast Ohio showdown

Following a tough loss against the Alexander Spartans just a week ago, the Marauders were looking to get back into the win column.
It was a slow start for Meigs. They came out of the gates struggling from the field only mustering just eight points in the first eight minutes.
Eastern jumped out to an early lead in what set up to be a tight defensive battle.
“It’s what we pride ourselves on,” said head coach Heath Hudson. “Eastern does the same. So, it is always a chippy game between us two. It is a fun game. I’d much rather it be a defensive struggle … we enjoy coming here to play.”
The Marauders turned it on in the second quarter thanks in large part to their shooting from behind the arc.
Meigs shot 42% from 3 to help overcome the sluggish start.
One of the key contributors for the Marauders was Jennifer Parker. Parker took over for Meigs in the second half to help breathe new life into the offense.
Parker finished with 15 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 4/6 from behind the arc. Those 15 points came at crucial points where it looked like the Eagle might crawl back into it.
“We’ve got a young sophomore class that’s really learning a lot, really having to adjust to those runs and then go on a run themselves,” said Hudson. “I’m proud of them. They’ve done a really good job.”
Once, the Marauders weathered the late push from the Eagles there was no looking back. Meigs coasted to a 54-37 victory to improve to 8-4.
