Federal Hocking unable to put a stop to South Gallia’s offensive power
< < Back toIn hopes to stay in the win column, the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers got back in action Wednesday night against South Gallia. It was an all too familiar feeling for the Lancers who got another loss and it was a big one 61-27.
The early lead by South Gallia carried throughout the entirety of the game and Federal Hocking struggled to find ways to come back. Everything from getting outplayed to not being able to find opportunities to score, South Gallia took advantage.
“I thought we played well in the first half,” Federal Hocking coach Amos Cottrill said. “We just didn’t handle the pressure in the second half, we came out very timid, turned the ball over a lot and that really affected us.”
The Lancers struggled to maintain possession of the ball and the Rebels capitalized on that and created chances of their own.
As South Gallia’s lead got larger, it was hard for Federal Hocking to battle back and the energy lacked as time went on. The Rebels hit a variety of three’s that helped them create a comfortable lead which was hard for the Lancers to come back from.
“Once we were down 18, 20, 22 (points),” Cottrill said. “The wheels kind of fell off (and) we didn’t give up, we were very hesitant to do the things we do well at.”
Although it wasn’t the performance Federal Hocking was looking for, a positive was how it moved the ball well.
Moving forward, the Lancers still have a lot to improve on but they know there are still plenty of games left to prove who they are.
“It’s important that we play games right now,” Cottrill said. “This is just our eleventh game, we still have a lot of basketball left so we gotta continue to grow, we’re seeing positives just not 32 minutes worth of positives.”
