GLOUSTER, Ohio (WOUB)  The Trimble Tomcats took on the Federal Hocking Lancers in the TVC-Hocking title game. With a Trimble win they would win the Hocking outright, and with a Federal Hocking win they would share the title with the Tomcats.

Things were hot from the get-go as both teams were lighting it up from three. Trimble’s Austin Wisor hit a deep three to end the first quarter, the Tomcats led the Lancers 19-11 after eight minutes of play.

These teams were trading buckets in the second quarter, Bryce Downs had an immaculate first half for the Tomcats shooting 4-5 from the field and ending the second quarter with 10 points. Andrew Airhart was also putting on a clinic from behind the arc, he ended the half with eight points for the Lancers.

The Tomcats lead at the end of the half with a score of 34-28.

The Tomcats led the Lancers the entire third quarter as well. Blake Guffey was scoring on tough layups for Trimble, while Andre Crockwell was hitting tough jumpers inside and outside the arc. Crockwell had 18 points at the end of the third.

In the final quarter of play the Lancers were able to take their first lead of the game 57-56, but it was quickly taken back by Trimble when William Freeborn was able to score in the paint after receiving the pass from Guffey.

Federal Hocking was able to tie the game 58-58 late in the fourth quarter, the Tomcats then were able to run the clock down to 13.3 seconds before taking a timeout to draw up a play to win the game. The ball ended up in the hands of Guffey off an offensive rebound, he got the putback layup to go making the score 60-58.

The Lancers had four seconds to tie the game, the ball was inbounded to Crockwell, he took a few dribbles up court, went up to shoot, double clutched, and threw up a halfcourt shot that fell right through the net giving Federal Hocking the win 61-60.

Crockwell was the leading scorer for the Lancers dropping 26 points, Guffey had 25 points in the loss for the Tomcats.
