Cottrill dominates with 37, leads Lancers past Raiders

The Lancers and Raiders both started off strong with a close scoring first quarter. Federal Hocking’s Tariq Cottrill made multiple three-point shots and led the team’s points. Both teams had evenly matched offenses, scoring in the double digits finishing the first quarter 16-15, Lancers ahead.
At the end of the first half the score was still close with Federal Hocking in the lead. The Lancers’ offense continued to be very strong, scoring a majority of the shots that they put up. The point total at the end of the second quarter was 40-36.
Federal Hocking stayed ahead at the end of the third quarter but the Raiders kept it a close game and gave themselves a chance to come back. The third ended with the Lancers remaining in the lead with a score of 57-50.
In the final quarter, Federal Hocking stepped up their offensive game and scored 26 points which led them to win the game. At the beginning of the fourth quarter Andrew Airhart had a spectacular block against the Raiders and also scored 15 points on offense. Cottrill scored 37 of the team’s points. The Lancers secured the victory with an impressive final score of 83-64.
Morgan heads home to play the River View Black Bears (1-1) on Friday with hopes to get their first win of the season. Federal Hocking will stay home to battle the Waterford Wildcats (1-0) on Friday.
