GLOUSTER, Ohio (WOUB) — The Trimble Tomcats hosted the Federal Hocking Lancers on Thursday in a heated TVC-Hocking rivalry. The Lancers came into Glouster on a mission and got the sweep over the Tomcats.

The Tomcats and Lancers traded the first set with killer offense. Trimble came to play forcing a Federal Hocking timeout, Tomcats up 10 to 5. Outside hitter Macy Vore jumped on the first set with three kills, with additional help from her teammate, middle hitter Bailey Tomlin with two kills and two blocks. After Federal Hocking’s first timeout, they charged the Tomcats with electric defense. Lancer Megan Reichardt cleared the Tomcat offense with two solo blocks in set one. Despite Trimble’s efforts, Federal Hocking takes the first set 25 to 22.

The Lancers kept immense energy with the defense high and bench jumping in the second set. The Tomcats could not touch the Lancer’s power. Back-to-back blocks from Federal Hocking kept the Tomcats on their toes keeping the score 13 to 6. Outside hitter Juniper Ballew struck the Tomcats with 6 kills, with her last kill of the set to finish Trimble 25 to 9.

Trimble sought out for another set to take their rival to a fourth set, but Karlee Grimm wouldn’t let that happen. The middle hitter came out on top with 9 kills with help from her setter, Olivia Tabler with left-handed throw downs. The Tomcats pounced back at the Lancer offense tallying 10 kills to bring the set 22 to 20 after Trimble’s first timeout.

“We just take a breath and tell each other we got the next one,” Lancer Karlee Grimm expressed.

Grimm took her team’s advice to get the final point with a stunning kill to the floor and Federal Hocking came out on top 26 to 24.
