Unofficial Election Results for Athens County
< < Back to ?p=259951Here are the unofficial results in Athens County, according to the county Board of Elections. Only contested races are listed.
Of the 39,342 registered voters, 25,100 participated in the 2020 General Election:
For County Commissioner, Charlie R. Adkins received 14,131 votes and Bill Hayes received 8,442 votes.
Voters in the City of Athens approved a 0.10% income tax; there were 4,281 votes for and 1,622 votes against.
For the City of Nelsonville’s 3 mills roads, streets and bridges construction and repair levy passed with 811 votes for and 516 votes against.
Chauncey proposed a 1.5 percent income tax to fund a police department, the people voted it down 172 to 138.
The Jacksonville 3 mills levy for current operating expenses passed 124 to 68.
The Jacksonville 3.2 mills fire protection levy passed 140 to 53.
Jacksonville, Trimble, and Glouster passed their “Sensible Marihuana” ordinances, 112-80,79 – 36, and 380 to 181, respectively.
Athens County’s 0.25 percent income tax passed also, 12,354 votes to 11,082 votes. This increase is to fund the county’s 911 system.
