The Ohio University College of Fine Arts will have a new dean beginning in May.

OU Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit announced Monday Margaret Kennedy-Dygas will assume the role.

Kennedy-Dygas will succeed Interim Dean Madeleine Scott, who replaced Charles McWeeny after he stepped down from the position to become a faculty member in June.

Kennedy-Dygas is currently the associate dean of the College of Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

She was chosen after a national search.

Her background is in voice and music history and literature.

She was a faculty member at the University of Kentucky, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Hope College.

Her appointment at OU will begin May 20.
