Ecoustic Alchemy

Before television took over the living rooms of the country, radio ruled the American household. Families got their evening's entertainment by gathering around the radio and listening to any number of well produced programs. Radio dramas and serials flooded the airwaves bringing mystery, drama and thrills into the living rooms of thousands of people. War Of The Worlds caused the country to panic thinking that we had been invaded by aliens from outer space. Detectives like Sam Spade, Sherlock Holmes and Philip Marlowe made their first baby steps off the printed page and onto the airwaves in these dramas.

Are you old enough to remember those days? If not, Ecoustic Alchemy gives you the opportunity to listen to the same kind of thrills, mystery and romances that they listened to way back then.

Produced by WOUB Public Media's Mark Robinson and Kyle P. Snyder from the School of Media Arts and Studies at Ohio University and working with the Nelsonville community theater group the ABC Players and other local actors, these dramas allow students the opportunity to learn dramatic audio production and give listeners the opportunity to hear the written word brought to life. Pull up a chair, turn out the lights and listen to Ecoustic Alchemy, theatre for your minds ear.
