< < Back to gene-dennis-logans-longest-serving-mayor-dies-88Logan's longest serving mayor – 88-year-old Gene Dennis – died Saturday in the city in which he'd worked as a public servant for 16 years.
Dennis served three terms as mayor from 1988 to 2000, and also served four years as a member of Logan City Council.
During his 12-year tenure as mayor, Dennis played a role in the decision to construct a new building to house the Logan Police Department, worked to rehabilitate the Logan Water Plant, volunteered and led an effort to clean up a dilapidated portion of Oak Grove Cemetery, and even prevented an East Coast company from shipping their rubbish to Logan.
