Week 8 Power Rankings: TVC-Hocking
< < Back to week-8-power-rankings-tvc-hocking1.) Trimble Tomcats (8-0, 7-0) | Last week’s rank: 1
The Trimble Tomcats still reign as the top dog in the Hocking after toppling Eastern 65-6. No defenses have proven themselves worthy of containing Trimble’s explosive offense and barring heroic performances from Alexander and Federal Hocking, it will be another perfect season for the Tomcats.
2.) Eastern Eagles (4-4, 4-2) | Last week’s rank: 2
The Eagles remain in the second spot despite their lopsided loss to Trimble. Even including the blowout, Eastern has been outscored by their opponents 185-163 this season, winning games by an average of 15 points per game. The Eagles will finish their season with two crucial conference games in Weeks 9 and 10.
3.) Wahama White Falcons (5-3, 5-2) | Last week’s rank: 4
A week seven win allowed the White Falcons to leap-frog Belpre into the no. three spot in our rankings, bouncing back from two consecutive losses. Wahama will conclude its conference schedule this week against last-place Miller.
4.) Belpre Golden Eagles (6-2, 4-2) | Last week’s rank 3
The Golden Eagles picked up a 33-14 win against Parkersburg Catholic last week, but a loss against Wahama keeps them behind the Falcons in this week’s rankings. Including losses to Wahama and Trimble, Belpre has still outscored its opponents 210- 159, winning its games by an average of 20 points. A crucial match-up with Eastern awaits which holds major implications within the conference standings.
5.) South Gallia Rebels (4-4, 3-3) | Last week’s rank: 5
South Gallia remained at the number five spot in the Hocking after a tough loss to the Wahama White Falcons. Wahama struggled with the rain in week 7 against Eastern but appeared to be getting back on track last week against the Rebels. The Rebels might be able to go up a spot with their final games coming against Southern and Miller, but a top 3 spot seems unlikely at this point.
6.) Waterford Wildcats (2-6, 2-4) | Last week’s rank: 7
Hot off a victory against Southern, the Wildcats have the opportunity to make it two in a row when they travel to one-win Federal Hocking. The seven points allowed is a season-low for Waterford.
7.) Southern Tornados (3-5, 2-4) | Last week’s rank: 6
The Tornadoes are averaging approximately 29 points per win and it is offense that they will need in order to keep up with South Gallia’s offense, which is averaging 35.5 points in its wins.
8.) Federal Hocking Lancers (1-7, 1-5) | Last week’s rank: 9
The Lancers picked up win no. one last week in a tight 16-15 battle against Miller.. With the nearly unstoppable Tomcats awaiting them in week 10, this week’s match-up with Waterford remains the team’s best opportunity for a win.
9.) Miller Falcons (1-7, 0-6)| Last week’s rank: 8
Without a single conference win this season, Miller slipped to the bottom of this week’s standings. The Falcons allow an average of 35 points per contest and bouts with high-scoring offenses from Wahama and South Gallia lie ahead.
