Week 6 Power Rankings: TVC-Hocking

1.) Trimble Tomcats 5-1 (5-0) | Last Rank: 1 | Next Opponent: vs. Southern
The Tomcats have already beaten the second, third and fourth ranked teams in the conference, putting them in the driver’s seat for another conference title. Their most difficult remaining game will be a non-conference match-up against Alexander.
2.) Miller Falcons 5-1 (3-1) | Last Rank: 2 | Next Opponent vs. Belpre
Miller bounced back from its week five loss to Trimble in a big way, dismantling Hannan (WV) 82-6. Second place in the Hocking and a playoff berth are still well within reach, but both of those goals ride on Friday’s match-up.
3.) Belpre Golden Eagles 4-2 (4-1) | Last Rank: 3 | Next Opponent @ Miller
Deijon Bedgood has emerged as one of the area’s best playmakers, picking up one big performance after another. Though Bedgood has garnered plenty of attention, Belpre’s defense has stepped up in a big way lately, allowing just 19 points during its past four games.
4.) Waterford Wildcats 3-3 (2-2) | Last Rank: 7 | Next Opponent vs. South Gallia
After back-to-back losses in weeks three and four, the Wildcats turned things around and will enter week seven riding a two-game win streak. Waterford’s offense has been productive and will need to continue to be so against a South Gallia team which has shown the ability to pile up points.
5.) Southern Tornadoes 3-3 (2-2) | Last Rank: 6 | Next Opponent @ Trimble
Southern is by far the hardest team in the Hocking to rank. The Tornadoes blew out Federal Hocking, but got beat badly by both Miller and Trimble getting outscored 83-19 during that stretch. At 2-2 in the conference, Southern exemplifies a middle-of-the-road team.
6.) Eastern Eagles 2-4 (2-2) | Last Rank: 4 | Next Opponent @ Wahama
Outside of Eastern’s wins over Federal Hocking and South Gallia, the Eagles have dropped their other four games 180-13. Much like Southern, Eastern is one of those middle of the pack teams.
7.) Wahama White Falcons 2-4 (1-4) | Last Rank: 8 | Next Opponent @ Eastern
Wahama showed promise against Trimble early on in week six, but it has failed to piece together a full four-quarter performance in many of its games.
8.) South Gallia Rebels 2-4 (1-3) |Last Rank: 5 | Next Opponent @ Waterford
South Gallia’s road to the end of the season is treacherous. Games against Waterford, Southern, and Miller lay ahead.
9.) Federal Hocking Lancers 0-6 (0-5) | Last Rank: 9 | Next Opponent @ Vinton County
Either Fed Hock or Vinton County will get win No. 1 on Friday. Miller, Waterford, and Trimble await the Lancers after week seven, placing pressure on Federal Hocking to win now.
