Week 4 Power Rankings: TVC-Hocking
< < Back toEntering Week 5 of the high school football season things are to heat up in the Tri-Valley Conference Hocking division. This is Gridiron Glory’s week four power ranking of the TVC-Hocking.
1) Waterford: (3-1, 3-0)
The defending champs are undefeated in conference play and have already taken out the division’s two greatest threats in Miller and Trimble. They are led by Braden Bellville, whose four-touchdown performance against Trimble on Sept. 15 has put him in talks as one of the area’s best players.
2) Miller: Record (3-1, 2-1)
The Falcons have soared since losing to Waterford in week one. Defensively, they’ve been the best in the league pitching two shut-outs in the last three weeks. They face a tough road test this week when they battle Trimble.
3) Trimble: Record (2-2, 2-1)
The Tomcats have had a brutal schedule to start their season already facing powerhouses such as Nelsonville-York, Waterford and the Miller Falcons on Friday. Despite the tough schedule, the Tomcats continue to improve on both sides of the ball. They bring a smash mouth run game led by Max Hooper and Conner Wright and a scrappy defense along with it.
4) Southern: Record (3-1,0-1)
Despite the Tornadoes record being better than the Tomcats they come in just behind them after suffering a 22-0 drubbing week four against Miller and a concerning nail-biting overtime win over Wahama week three. The Tornadoes are in the mix to be higher in the rankings but they’ll need to blow Belpre away this week.
5) Belpre: Record (2-2,2-1)
The Golden Eagles started the year off rough but they are starting to find their footing. Belpre defeated Wahama 42-20 and Federal Hocking 51-0, separating themselves from the weaker teams of the division. They are led by quarterback Brandon Simoniette and shifty H-back Tojzae Reams who have shown they can put points on the board.
6) Eastern: Record (2-2,2-1)
The Eagles are looking to continue their winning streak against South Gallia on Friday. Eastern is led by senior running back Josh Brewer who will certainly need to be a factor in the coming weeks if the Eagles want to fly up the list.
7) South Gallia: Record (2-2,1-1)
Rebel nation may not be happy about its ranking but that can certainly improve with a victory over Eastern this week. The Rebels can put themselves in title discussions but first they will need to improve that defense that allowed 51 points against Trimble.
8) Wahama: Record (0-4,0-2)
The White Falcons have yet to win a game but they have shown improvement each week. They took Southern to the brink of defeat coming up just short in a 27-20 overtime loss. Fortunately for the White Falcons they are favored this week against Federal Hocking.
9) Federal Hocking: Record (0-4, 0-3)
The Lancers have not won a game since week eight of 2014 and it the streak doesn’t look close to being broken soon. They’ve been outscored 170-22. Their best shot at ending the 31 game losing streak comes Friday on the road against Wahama.
