Fed Hock Girls Add Anther Win As the Boys Break 27 Game Losing Streak
< < Back toIn the week after Christmas, both varsity squads from Federal Hocking come away with a win in their last games before the New Year.
The boys from Federal Hocking snapped a 27 game losing streak against TVC opponent South Gallia, and the Girls took down St. Joe.
Girls (6-3), (5-2)
On December 27th, just two days after Christmas, the Lady Lancers hosted St. Joe at home. This game was a great effort on both sides of the court for the girls from Federal Hocking, as they added yet another win to the win column, 64-30.
Scoring started early on in the game for the Lady Lancers, and they scored often, finding great rhythm on offense, and they were able to flow well with the ball.
Don’t discount the defensive end either. The Lady Lancers were able to play good defense, and capitalize on some mistakes that St. Joe made early on.
This was one of the bigger wins that the Lady Lancers have come away with this year, and they are back in action at home after the first of the year on January 2nd against the Athens Bulldogs.
Boys (1-5), (1-4)
The Lancers traveled to South Gallia on December 27th to take on the rebels.
Coming into this game, Federal Hocking had lost 27 straight games, but that would not be the case this past Wednesday.
The Lancers went into South Gallia and came out with the win this time, 60-53.
This game was highlighted by the play of the Lancer offense, and outstanding play by Freshman Nate Massie.
Massie scored a career high 31 points in the contest, after putting up eight three pointers in the second half in a loss to Belpre last week.
The Lancer offense was able to get the ball to Massie, who played lights out the entire game. The Lancers have a lot to look forward to the rest of this season and coming seasons with Massie at the helm of Kevin Dunigan’s offense.
If the Lancers can keep their turnovers down, stay out of foul trouble, and convert the opposing team’s mistakes into points, they will have more games like this one to look forward to.
The Lancers were also supposed to play host to Berne Union on December 30th, but the game was postponed, and it will be played on February 10th.
Federal Hocking Basketball will be back in action after the first of the year with the boys playing host to (2-6) Wahama on Friday, January 5th, while the girls will host the (2-9) Athens Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday, January 2nd.
